When Abe Karmack saw his kids putting Ketchup all over their food, he imagined a version of the sauce that kept his young epicureans coming back for more—minus the sugar of most mass-produced brands. A veteran of the U.S. Navy with an M.B.A., he decided to put his business skills and love of food together to create True Made Foods. In 2017, he asked barbecue legend Ed Mitchell to collaborate on a new line of sauces, and Carolina Gold Was Born.
