Dapper Guru was created in the Washington, D.C., kitchen of Lt. Rob Marshall, a veteran of the U.S. Army, in 2016. He was on a quest to find both an all-natural shaving product and his next career step when he began researching and experimenting with soaps.  

Since its founding, Dapper Guru has given financial support to veteran-focused organizations and, more recently, is working on a mental health initiative that helps men cultivate mindfulness through making soap. The process, he says, “is a great stress-reliever. There is pleasure [in working] with my hands and using my creativity to make something that is real and concrete in this world. It’s a poetic experience.”
